Arriving at a bespoke cocktail bar, one doesn’t often want to sit down and order just a classic cocktail as a pick-me-up. The espresso martini is outdated and, all too often, excessively sweetened for one’s thorough enjoyment. Perusing the menu a cocktail catches your eye; gin-based, that’s becoming one of your favorites, with an all-natural coffee-based element, and a traditional liqueur as a sweetener. You order one, take a sip and sink into the back of your chair. This, you decide, is a cocktail I can drink anytime, any-place, anywhere. Whether I will be on a boat, just getting off of work, or just getting the night started off right.

Why This Cocktail Works

All of the ingredients in this cocktail come together to give it a full body The Bénédictine tapers off and the Bomani and barrel-aged gin, which finishes with notes of juniper and pepper, give this drink a dry finish leaving the drinker fully satisfied yet wanting to come back for more. Once the drinker thinks the flavors sensation is over the Bénédictine returns and gives the tongue just the slightest tap of honey, again enticing the drinker back into the glass.
