Over the course of centuries the consumption and methods of production of coffee has evolved to produce drinks that have been perfected. The same story of evolution applies to distillation and eventually we sat down and produced a spiked cold brew beverage that could satisfy every modern man and woman’s palette.

As the ages and the consumption of coffee and cocktails have evolved, we have forgotten – especially in the age of no sweeteners and craft cocktail, many of the classics that have come before us; leaving them to only linger in the shadows of those we still deem to be great. The Brandy Alexander is a cocktail that has been shunned so; but it need not stay this way for this once great after dinner drink!

 

When Bomani Met Alexander

  • 1.5oz Hennessy V.S.O.P
  • 0.75oz Dark Creme de Cocoa
  • 0.75oz Cream
  • 3oz Bomani
  • Glass: Collins
  • Garnish: Freshly grated nutmeg
  • Method: Fill a collins glass with ice. Pour all ingredients, except BOMANI, into a shaker. Shake ingredients with ice. Pour Bomani into the collins glass and strain the shaken cocktail ingredients on top. Garnish and serve.

Why This Cocktail Works

The Brandy Alexander is a classic after dinner drink which has been lost in the throes of our current distaste for the sweet and creamy. This updated version brings the seemingly old fashioned to the new, woke cocktail generation. Bomani adds an extra element of flavor to this drink, playing off both the creme de cocoa and the brandy. Serving it over ice also lengthens this usually straight up cocktail, making it much more refreshing yet still excellently suitable as a dessert cocktail.

 

Where and When

The Brandy Alexander is a dessert cocktail, and whilst this cocktail is still a great dessert cocktail, it is also a great all night sipper. It is enjoyable from the beginning of an evening to the end, and it also makes a great brunch coffee cocktail that will gently rouse the drinker into the day.
