After a fun filled lunchtime spent in the sunshine you find yourself looking at a dessert menu. Glancing around the table you see happily tired face perusing the same menu with glazed uninterested looks.
Deciding you don’t want anything you flip it over as you toss it onto the table. The word “cocktail” catches the sunlight and you lean forward slowly to pick up the menu again. Browsing the cocktail list you find one that sounds like the refreshingly smooth pick-me-up you need. Looking around the table menus are now down and your three friends are sat back relaxed.
When the waitress returns the answer for desserts is a resounding no, but as she collects the menus you ask her for 4 of the cocktail you spotted. She gives you a little nod and looks around the table. A few shrugs, no one rejects, and she heads off to get them for you.
A few minutes later there’re coco dusted martinis in front of everyone. A small cheers and everyone takes a sip. A “mmmm” resounds around the table and the right choice was made; this was the sweet, refreshing, caffeinated lift we needed to keep this day going.
Peppermint Mocha Martini
- 2oz Bomani
- 1oz Altos Reposado tequila
- 0.5oz Creme de Cacao
- 0.5oz Creme de Menthe
- Glass: Martini
- Garnish: Coco powder
- Method: Shake and strain.
Why This Cocktail Works
The Bomani, creme de cacao, and tequila provide this drink with great body and mouthfeel. The coffee flavor comes first, mixing with the flavors of the creme de cacao and tequila. Then the creme de menthe kicks in slowly helping the drink end with a great body. None of the flavors overpower the others in this excellently balanced drink.
Where and When
This is a lower ABV cocktail for people who want to take it a little slower. The peppermint mocha martini is a great, smooth after dinner cocktail. It is also a great cocktail to cool you down and perk you up during the middle of the day.
